WHAT IS DRIVING UP PRICES?

Food inflation remains elevated well above pre-pandemic norms, driven by higher import costs, energy prices, and supply chain pressures, but also by a over decade of deficit spending. Vancouver saw home affordability hit its worst levels in 2022, and experts say there may never be a good time to buy for millennials and Gen Z. Now, the Liberal government is bailing out developers and keeping prices artificially high. North Shore families who stretched to afford a mortgage or rent deserve better than a government that socializes the losses of those who didn't have to.

Stephen’s Commitments:

As MP, Stephen will push for:

  1. Lower income Taxes for Families and Workers – More money in your paycheque, not Ottawa's. For North Shore families already stretched by a high cost of living, lower income taxes means more money for essentials.

  2. An End to Hidden Taxes on Food, Homebuilding, and investment– Hidden taxes on farmers, food packaging, and homebuilding get buried in the price of everything you buy. Lower taxes means more cheaper food and more investment in homebuilding, driving down your everyday expenses.

  3. Cutting Wasteful Deficit Spending to Curb inflation – Inflation happens when governments spend money they don't have. The Liberal government added more debt than all previous governments combined, and Canadians pay for it at the grocery store and the gas pump. We must cut the deficit by reducing spending on bureaucracy, consultants, and corporate handouts, not on the programs families depend on.
